Biography

Elif Ünlüsoy is inspired soloist and a chamber musician.

She started her musical journey first with piano at the age of 5 and met with cello as she was 9 years old. Since then, she has been studying with Salim Gayipli (BU Ankara), Gara Aliyev (BU Ankara), Hayreddin Hoxha (BU Ankara) and her bachelor studies with Prof. Hans-Christian Schweiker (HfMT Köln).

She has won numerous awards at many international and national competitions such as 2nd prize and Nicole Janigro Award in “Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition” in Croatia; 2nd prize as youngest in ’’Brigitte Kempen,, Competition in Germany, 2017 DAAD Preis in Germany, 2nd prize in Aziz Gürerk Cello Competition in Turkey, Sinfonima Cello Compeitition in Germany and many more.

Elif had her first debut with the orchestra at the age of 14 and has performed with many orchestras of the world since then. At the renowned academies and workshops, she had the opportunity to work with distinguished cellists such as Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Peter Bruns, Maria Kliegel and Peter Hörr. Furthermore, as a passionate chamber musician, she worked with influential artists such as Mark Gothoni, Paul Rivinius and members of Casals Quartet, Shanghai Quartet among others.

During her studies, she was scholar of many foundations such as Bikent University İhsan Dogramaci Foundation , German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Bursary of Germany (BMBF), Sinfonima Foundation (Instrument), Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation.

Elif Ünlüsoy currently studies her Solo Master Degree with Prof. Thomas Carroll at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln, Germany.
